ON THE GOLF COURSE

GENTLEMEN

  • Collared t-shirts must be worn.

  • Jerseys, jumpers, vests, and jackets suitable for golfwear is allowed.

  • Tailored style shorts or trousers are allowed.

  • Golf shoes with soft spikes, normal sport shoes that will not cause indentations on greens is allowed.

  • Jeans of any form is not allowed.

IN THE DINING HALL & BAR

GENTLEMEN

  • Bandagala (means a set of clothes with a closed neck jacket and trouser worn with formal shoes).

  • Shirts with collars is permitted.

  • Collarless ribbed high neck t-shirts and polo neck shirts are permitted.

  • Shoes or sandals with backstraps  are permitted.

LADIES

  • Attire befitting the occasions and the area of use.

  • The emphasis is on eligance, poise and grace.

NOTE:

  • Slippers, sports gear, golf shorts and snekers are not allowed.

  • Hats/caps and golf shoes must be removed before entering the cafe and bar.

IN THE CLUB HOUSE & PATIO

GENTLEMEN

  • Bandagala (means a set of clothes with a closed neck jacket and trouser worn with formal shoes).

  • Shirts with collars is permitted.

  • T-shirts with collars, polo neck shirts, trousers or golf shorts, jeans are permitted.

  • Sports shoes or sandals with back straps are permitted.

LADIES

  • Attire befitting the occasions and the area of use.

  • The emphasis is on eligance, poise and grace.

  • Collared t-shirt is allowed.

  • Jerseys, jumpers, vests, and jackets suitable for golfwear is allowed.

  • Tailored style knee length shorts or regular trousers or skirts are allowed.

  • Golf shoes with soft spikes, normal sport shoes that will not cause indentations on greens is allowed.

  • Jeans of any form and footwear other than golf shoes are not allowed.

LADIES

NOTE: If you are unsure, please ask in the club office.

Painted Marker Stones/ Stakes

Pink          :    Out of bounds

Yellow       :   Penalty Area

White        :   Fairway markers

Blue          :   Start of fairway

Red           :   Penalty Area 

RULE A: PREFERRED LIE

PAR THREE: 1  PAR FOUR:1  PAR FIVE: 2

  • Preferred lie may be taken if the ball lies within the fairway of the hole being played, within oneclub length. The ball once placed is in play. (Ball on Fairplay band is in Fairway).

  • Preferred lies can be availed for the penalty shots being played from within the drop zones.

  • A player can avail of a preferred lie when taking a drop from the penalty area (provided he has not already exhausted the prescribed number of preferred lies available for the hole).

  • A player is not entitled for a preferred lie, if his ball is out of the fairway, but is dropped in the fairway under any rule as the nearest point of relief.

RULE B: RELIEF THROUGH THE GREEN

  • A ball embedded in its own pitch mark

  • If the ball lies in/on, or if the stance, or if the intended area of swing is affected by:

  • Cut drains, embedded stones, T-boxes, Safety grills, Electric pillars, benches, sprinkler heads, inspection chambers & concrete pathways.

  • For the ball lying on the fairway band

  • The tarmac road running in the middle of the course.

  • If the ball lies on roads, vehicular tracks, path ways, buggy path.

RULE C: LINE OF PLAY

  • When a player is playing the 14th hole, if the ball lies in the fairway and is within 15yardsof the protective screen on the 9th T box, the player may avail a free drop.

RULE D: BUNKERS

  • Relief can be obtained for ball lying on, or if the stance and swing path is affected by fixed pipes in bunkers. If a player takes a relief under this rule, he must drop the ball in the bunker within one club-length from the nearest point of relief and not nearer the hole.

RULE E: A BALL MUST BE REPLAYED

  • If it strikes any electric pole or overhead wires.

DROP ZONES: DROP ZONES ARE PROVIDED AS UNDER

HOLE 8: If the ball enters the water, players shall use the drop zone provided before the margin of the water begins.

If the ball enters the forest area after the water, the players must use the drop zone provided after the margin of the water.

HOLE 9: For the ball entering the forest area near the 15th T- box, players must use the drop zone provided neat the 15th T-box.

If the ball enters the forest area after the 8th green, the players must use the drop zone provided after the 8th green.

HOLE 12: If the ball enters the forest area adjacent to the 8th green, players must use the drop zone close to the 15th T-box

HOLE 15: If the ball lies on the road running in the middle of the course between the two entrance gates of MDGC Clubhouse, the player must use the drop zone provided.

HOLE 17: The Players must use the drop zone provided to the right of the green if the ball enters the water body marked in red.

PENALTY FOR BREACH OF LOCAL RULE:

Matchplay: loss of hole.     Stoke play: 2 shots
